End of Driveway Stands - Are you Covered?
July 24, 2009

Did you know that the majority of Homeowner policies do not cover the liability associated with this?

That's right, most Homeowner policies do not cover you for the liability risk associated with these self-serve stands.  Umbrella liability policies merely pick up coverage where the underlying coverage leaves off so you are not even covered here.

This means that if John or Suzie Q. Public get injured or claim injury in the course of transacting at your stand or from the consumption of your product, you may have a significant risk exposure.  In the course of our rides I have seen all types of stands:  Fruit and vegetable, perennial flower, cider, honey and even one that made fruit smoothies from fruit grown on the property.

Farm Family's Homeowners policy does cover this.  In fact, we cover a number of different hobby farming and equestrian exposures.  If you feel that you, your neighbor or friends might be exposed, feel free to call or refer them to me and I can review coverage for this exposure.  We can also protect your pick-your-own operations whether it be fruit, vegetable or Christmas Tree's. We also offer Commercial General Liability policies for eqestrian operations like indoor arena's, lessons, boarding and care, custody and control.
